From: north of North Tarrytown at US 9
To: Katonah at NY 35
Via: Pleasantville, Chappaqua, Mount Kisco
Name: Phelps Way (limited-access), Bedford Road (SA)
History: Phelps Way was once planned to begin at the Hudson River, where there was to have been an intersection with the never-built Hudson River Expressway (I-487, later NY 399). It was to have been limited-access all the way to I-684 in Katonah. (SA) Originally went in to Tarrytown (via Pocantico Hills) - mid '70s-ish a limited-access highway thru Rockefeller property was built to US 9 in Sleepy Hollow (formerly North Tarrytown). This roadway was going to be extended to the Hudson River Expressway that was never built. The old segment to Tarrytown became NY 448. (DHJr)

History: This was the initial, pre-Interstate (ca. 1956) designation for the Cross Westchester Expressway. History: Eastern end-point used to be at the intersection of NY 120 and 120A near Purchase (also I-287). East of White Plains, Westchester Ave was the frontage road on either side of I-287, and was signed as NY 119. (Similar situation to NY 100; these are the only two examples of signed
frontage roads in Westchester.) (RB)
