After Dublin we head to Glendalough in County Wicklow. The lady trapped
in our GPS (also known as Lola in the movie RV) tells us to head onto the R115.
Here's how roads in Ireland are numbered: If the road name starts with
M, it's a motorway similar to interstates in the US. If it starts with N, it's a National
road that can either be a two-lane road through the countryside or a real highway. If it
starts with R, you're likely to run into sheep
on the road, so drive slow. Before learning this trend Big Blue nearly hit some. That's not
blood on the sheep's back--they're painted to show who owns them. If the sheep are painted
blue, it's from Guinness that was sitting
out too long. |

Glendalough itself is a village located at the site
of an ancient monastery, founded in the 6th century by St. Kevin, a hermit priest, and destroyed in 1398
by English troops. The upper
lake is pictured below along with the Round Tower and a Celtic cross on site.
Next was the Meeting of the Waters, an overhyped place where two rivers come
together. At least we didn't go out the way for it. More interesting was the goat across the street,
who seemed to put on a show
for us consisting of paranoia, protectionism, and other general goat behaviors.
