Galway
Galway is a lot like most large cities in Ireland in that they're turned their old medieval sections of town into pedestrian-only areas (usually successfully). But, Galway is the only city that wasn't swarmed with cranes and still seemed like what you'd think old Ireland to be like. Top Right: one of the main streets in the retail areas. Top Far Right: Ducks along the river. Bottom Right: Adrienne at Galway Bay. Bottom Far Right: The swans of Galway Bay.
Galway doesn't have any real must-see attractions, but here we go, clockwise from above: 1. Galway Cathedral; 2. A statue downtown that in theory would be great for tourist pictures, but instead is usually occupied by a street performer of some kind (that's an Irish bagpipe she's holding--instead of blowing into it, her left elbow is pushing air in); 3. The Spanish Arch; 4. Lynch's Window
Left: Doug at Salthill outside Galway (Adrienne thinks he looks better this way). Right: Adrienne in front of our hotel, the only hotel we stayed at for more than one night (end of days 7 and 8)
